Accommodation

Céad míle fáilte - a hundred thousand welcomes.

CIAA enjoys a choice of high quality host family accommodation, in which you will be fully immersed in the Irish culture. Living with a host family and enjoying authentic Irish food and Irish fun will be an exciting experience for students. All homes are located in beautiful residential settings and are safe, comfortable, and equipped to a high standard.

Not every Study Abroad or culture program offers this engaging opportunity of living with a host family. In this regard, you will enjoy a full cultural experience. It will also give you firsthand experience of living like an Irish person by exploring familial traditions of Ireland! Our “home away from home” offers all the comfort and security a parent would want for their child. There is reassurance in knowing that students will have a family who is looking out for them and wants to facilitate their health, happiness and safety in an unfamiliar environment.

Family homes are all centrally located within 15 minutes walking distance of our base, Colaiste Einde, which is in the prime location of Salthill, Galway. All homes are also on the bus route which caters for students traveling to the base and also to the city centre. The city centre is a 15 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the base / family homes in Salthill.

Our host families provide full board; that is breakfast, a packed lunch, and dinner for students every day. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, it is necessary that you advise us in advance. We recommend bringing some favorite snacks with you, as students often crave some comforts from home. There is free wifi / internet access in every home and you will have intermittent access to wifi hotspots in most locations throughout the program.

Our Accommodation Officer, an experienced property manager and long-term local resident, has built up good relationships with all of our carefully selected host families and, with the program directors, continuously monitors and liaises with the host family to ensure both student and family are happy at all times.

Students may or may not be accommodated together, depending on the size of the host family’s home or unless specifically requested. Host families are required to exercise strict control over home-coming times.
